News - BISPLATE® 600 Launched at AIMEX 2013

Bisalloy Steels, Australia's only manufacturer of high-tensile and abrasion-resistant quenched and tempered steel plate under the brand name of "BISPLATE®", launched their new high hardness product, BISPLATE® 600, at AIMEX – Asia-Pacific’s International Mining Exhibition.

Bisalloy’s focus is on their customers. Through their newly updated website, Bisalloy’s customers continue to have access to live stock details across various warehouses, as well as ready access to in-depth technical and fabrication support.

With the main production facility and sales headquarters in Wollongong, NSW, Bisalloy Steels have stock facilities and sales offices in both Perth and Brisbane, with an additional sales office now open in Melbourne – this is in keeping with Bisalloy’s regional commitment.

Bisalloy’s national distribution network, comprising Bluescope Distribution, Onesteel and The Southern Steel Group, coupled with Bisalloy’s regional sales team, means that supply readiness is never an issue.

With a consultative solutions approach to Q&T applications and field-proven designs, Bisalloy Steels has the ability to facilitate and deliver tailored engineered solutions utilising various BISPLATE® grades. Complemented by over 30 years of trusted performance by major global resource, OEM, building and construction companies, Bisalloy have many proven in-field service life improvements across major Q&T applications.

From listening to their customers, Bisalloy Steels has developed the hardest quenched and tempered steel ever produced in Australia – BISPLATE® 600. Bisalloy Steels manufactures this, and its full range of high-tensile and abrasion-resistant quenched and tempered steel, through a highly efficient, continuous flow process.

BISPLATE® 600 is a 600 Brinell hardness through hardened, abrasion resistant steel plate, offering long life expectancy in the more demanding sliding and gouging applications, especially in mining, earthworks and quarry works etc.

Currently BISPLATE® 600 is the hardest steel produced by Bisalloy Steels and offers exceptionally long life in applications with maximum sliding and minimal impact, such as:

• Wear Liners

• Chutes and Chute Liners

• Mining Buckets

• Ground Engaging Tools

• Cutters and Cutting Edges

• Shredders

Like most of Bisalloy’s grades of Q&T steel, BISPLATE® 600 is available in 2485 mm wide plates at 8000 mm long in a thickness range of 8 – 40 mm. A thicker 50 mm plate is also available but in a plate length of 6000 mm.

Bisalloy Steels’ Business Development and Strategy Manager, Tom Matinca, understands what is driving mining companies in Australia: “With the mining industry’s focus on reducing operational costs, the introduction of Bisalloy’s BISPLATE® 600 grade provides considerable savings over and above clad plate products by delivering comparable wear performance at significantly reduced costs of the wear material, as well as the fabrication and installation” he said.

“Our customers no longer want to just purchase ‘any wear material at any cost as long as it is available.’ Now they are looking for a fit-for-purpose wear product that provides the best return over the life of the equipment, and this is something that Bisalloy Steels is well positioned to assist with” Bisalloy’s Product Applications Engineer, Justin Suwart, said.

“We have an experienced and dedicated team, coupled with the fact we are local, and remain the only producer of Q&T steel in Australia, something which us allows us to be more attentive to the special needs of our customer’s applications” Suwart said.
